My Story

My family and friends will happily tell you that from a young age I have had an empathetic and sensitive nature that lent itself to the care and nurturance of people and animals. I spoke of becoming a "Psychologist" since the age of 7, and felt inspired by members of my family that were in helping professions at that time. As I got older, many, including strangers, were drawn to me like a magnet to share their troubles and seek support. I waivered for about 1 year during my first year of college, where I decided to be an English major, but quickly found myself back on the Behavioral Sciences track where I went on to receive both a Bachelor's and Master's degree. It's funny to me because even though I waivered for a minute, I was drawn to English, a field I consider to be richly immersed in "communication" of various forms, and that is most certainly in my nature and a skill that assists me greatly in my work as a Psychotherapist.

I live in the Philadelphia area and value time spent with my husband, children, and dog. I enjoy music, mindfulness practices, the beach, aerobics, and walks in nature. I devote a lot of myself to the nurturance of my relationships with people, both personally and professionally. I place great worth on human rights and multiculturalism, and am proud to come from a diverse background. I love learning and it's not uncommon to find me reading, listening to podcasts, and attending workshops and trainings of various kinds. I think personal growth and enrichment are vital to life and happiness

Over the last 24 years I have worked in several Mental Health settings before establishing my private practice in 2016. Community Mental Health Centers, Hospitals, and College Counseling Centers were responsible for much of my early experiences in this field. My approach can be considered eclectic in nature, but I gravitate towards therapeutic and theoretical orientations that value Systems approaches, such as Family Systems and Internal Family Systems, Psychodynamics and Relational concepts, Cognitive Behavioral components, and Attachment Theory and Science. I take an exploratory approach to target awareness and perspective reframing while also gently, but firmly challenging my clients in order to take measurable steps towards progress and desired change. I love my work and the opportunities for growth and connection it affords me. I could not see myself doing anything different, and that makes me grateful every day.

Besides my work as a Therapist and separate from my private practice, I am currently a Consultant with the renowned ADHD expert, Melissa Orlov, and her ADHD & Marriage organization. Here I have the opportunity to train with Melissa herself as well as other experts in the filed of ADHD. I work alongside and learn from other brilliant Consultants while also offering Consulting services to individuals and couples dealing with ADHD in their romantic relationships.
